Mary Did You Know

It is the season to bring out all the classic Christmas songs. And maybe one of the greatest, or most renowned of late, is a song called "Mary Did You Know?"

Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to the blind man? Mary, did you know your baby boy would calm a storm with His hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod, and when you kiss your little baby, you've kissed the face of God?

Mary, did you know?

It's a great song, but listen to Luke chapter 1, where Mary said after she had received all this revelation: "My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Savior. He has helped His servant Israel, remembering His mercy as He promised to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever."

So for one, her words are “a lot of dots.” Those dots are being connected by Jesus, the baby that she is going to bring forth, and she calls Him God my Savior.

So put those thoughts together. Ponder them. Put them back into the song, as nice and sentimental as it is—"Mary Did You Know?"

Her final answer?

Yes.

Mary did know because she pondered.

And, of course, as important as that is, the question appropriate at this Christmas season is, "Do you know who that baby is?"

Your final answer?
