The Wonder of Stars

Greetings! The wonder of science. The wander of stars.

Recently I was reading about how the Hubble telescope took a thumbprint of this vast universe and examined it in great detail. This little piece of the universe—a piece the size of my thumbprint—displayed millions of galaxies with innumerable stars. In Genesis, God told Abram that his descendants would be as many as the stars in the sky. It was a star that presented the proximity and location of the God-child.

Ponder how vast, how incredible, how perfectly balanced is our universe that contains this little planet called Earth, which contains an even smaller and obscure village like Bethlehem—the place God revealed Himself.

Why?

Matthew chapter 2, verses 3-6, records: "When King Herod heard this, he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him. After assembling the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. 'In Bethlehem of Judea,' they said, 'for it is written this way by the prophet: And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are in no way least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'"

Here is Herod doing some of his pondering. Their conclusion is this: it was written in the stars, written by the prophets.

The irony this year is that Bethlehem in Gaza is once again lit up after a hiatus. Why?
